Who are we?

We are a couple with two sons: Daniel (13) and Fabio (11). My husband, José María (48), is the manager of an advertising firm which produces most sports for Galician TV and I (43) am a teacher at a School of Languages. We are non-smokers. We have a dog, Spy (a Belgian Shepherd), but it's usually grandfather who looks after him during our holidays.

The house

The house is situated on a hill in a nice quiet residential area near La Coruña University. It is only about two miles from the city center and the nearest beaches and also close to the main road network. There are two big shopping centers nearby.

The house is modern (built in 1990), spacious, practical, comfortable and full of light. It has a big living-room with a fireplace and French windows, a nice kitchen/dining-room, a study, a toilet, a laundry and a playroom downstairs with lots of toys and a PlayStation. Upstairs there are four big bedrooms and two bathrooms with bath and shower. There's also a garage in the basement. We have central heating, two TV sets, two videos, a hi-fi system, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, a tumble dryer and the usual electrical appliances.

The garden (about 1,500 sqm) facing south has a large lawn, a sunny terrace with a sunshade, a barbecue, furniture, swings, a toy wooden house, a ping-pong table, lots of fruit trees and... privacy.

La Coruña - Balcony of the Atlantic Ocean

La Coruña is a seaside town on the north-west coast. It has over 250,000 inhabitants and is well known due to its beautiful sandy beaches, its interesting old town and its typical galleries (that's why it's also called the "Crystal Town").

La Coruña is only 40 miles from Santiago de Compostela, one of the main tourist attractions in Spain mainly because of its well-conserved medieval buildings, its fantastic cathedral and its shopping streets in a rich, intimate and historical environment.

In summer we have a lot of cultural events such as the "August Festival" with music, dance and theatre on La Coruña's streets. Special attention should be paid to the Archaeological Museum, the House of Science and the House of Man, two interactive museums which children love visiting, and last but not least, the new Aquarium.

La Coruña is a very beautiful town and we are proud to say that it has recently been given the UN award "Nations in Bloom" in China for its environment policy.

The weather in Galicia is mild throughout the year. The average temperature in summer is about 24 ºC. It is said that here one can taste the best fish and seafood in the world - best quality at reasonable prices. From La Coruña you can visit lots of other interesting places in Galicia and Portugal as well.

If you feel like having a look at some beautiful sites in our land, don't miss the following webs:

So far we have made four very successful swaps with the South of France, Italy, Belgium and England (Worcester and London). We must say that all our previous guests have enjoyed their stay in our house a lot (specially the young ones).

In case you happen to be interested in our offer, feel free to ask us any questions you may have and we will send you plenty of information about La Coruña and Galicia, in general.

We are looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Our best wishes for 2003!.
